Counting of votes at the Highlands Hotel in Glenties
Jimmy Duffy of the Labour party has been eliminated in the Glenties LEA while 100% Redress Party candidate Charles Ward has exited in Stranorlar.
Ward has been eliminated following the fourth count at the Finn Valley Centre in Stranorlar.
Ward finished with a very respectable 985 votes following the distribution of Tony McDaid’s 642 votes. Niall McConnell (Ind) looks set to be eliminated next to set up a battle royale for the sixth and final seat between debutant Dakota Nic Mheanman (SF) and the veteran Gerry Crawford (FF).
Following the distribution of Tony McDaid’s votes, the current standing is as follows: Martin Scanlon (Ind) is still in the lead on 1,525 and is edging closer to the 1,629 quota in order to be elected.
He is followed by Gary Doherty (SF) on 1,498 after he received 236 of his colleague McDaid’s transfers. Martin Harley (FG) is close behind on 1,493, Frank McBrearty (Ind) on 1,338, Patrick McGowan (FF) on 1,282, Gerry Crawford (FF) on 1,112, Dakota Nic Mheanman (SF) on 1,057, Niall McConnell (Ind) on 1,029.
Charles Ward’s 985 votes will now be distributed.
Duffy has left the race after the third count in Glenties and his 308 votes will now be distributed.
After the distribution of Anthony Matthew Doohan and Ann Sweeney's votes, Anthony Molloy (FF) on 1,420, Brian Carr (SF) on 1,032 and John Sheamais O Fearraigh (SF) on 1,010 are next in the running.
Micheál Choilm MacGiolla Easbuig and Michael McClafferty have already been elected in the six-seater area. Molloy, Carr and O Fearraigh seem set to be elected and the race for the final seat, at this albeit early stage, looks to be a battle between Denis McGee (100% Redress) and Kellie Rodgers (SF).
