Library Service's 'Remembering 1916' conference

Donegal County Council’s Library Service will host, ‘Remembering 1916: Ethical and Global Perspectives’ Conference in the Mount Errigal Hotel Letterkenny, Wed 17 February 2016, 9.30am – 1pm.

This conference is based on a book currently being written by Dr. Johnston Mc Masters.

Dr McMasters, lecturer and coordinator of the Education for Reconciliation programme, Irish School of Ecumenics, Belfast will present his thoughts on how to appropriately commemorate events such as the 1916 Rising.

Dr Cathy Higgins, Assistant Professor on the Education for Reconciliation programme, Irish School of Ecumenics, Belfast, will also present an interesting perspective on women and the Rising and how the Rising was viewed by literary artists.

Four workshops in Central Library, Letterkenny on: Ethics of Memory, Thurs 14 Jan; Ethics & the 1916 Rising, Thurs 21 Jan 2016; Ethics & the Battle of the Somme, Thurs 28 Jan; Commemoration & the Protestant experience in Donegal, Thurs 11 February. All workshops 6.30-8pm
