Glenfin scalped St Eunan’s to put an end to the Donegal SFC holders’ 100 per cent record in Division 1 with an encouraging victory at Páirc Taobhoige.

In bleak conditions, the hosts built up a decent lead in the first half, and although it lessened after the interval, they did enough to keep their noses in front and were rewarded with the win, their second from four in the top-flight.

The home side raced into a 0-5 to 0-2 lead by the 15th minute, with Daniel Marley, Odhran McGlynn, Luke McGlynn and Aaron McGlynn on the scoresheet for Glenfin, and Luke McGuinness and Oisin Scanlin registering for the Letterkenny team. Barry Meehan’s team hit the next two through Eoin McGeehin and Pauric Boyle to take it back to a one-point game.

However, Glenfin continued to impress and were 0-8 to 0-4 ahead by the break, hitting the last three of the half, via Jason Morrow, Odhran McGlynn and Shaun Ward.

Glenfin managed to keep a cushion for the most part and by the halfway stage of the second half, were 0-11 to 0-6 in front after a two-point free by Shaun Ward, which was a huge score.

Glenfin lost two - Daniel Marley and Ross Marley to black cards in the final quarter - although Aaron Deeney from St Eunan’s was also sin-binned, but an Eoin McGeehin penalty took the O’Donnell Park residents back to just one down, 0-11 to 1-7, with 10 to play.

Points followed at both ends, with Odhran O’Connor, a Luke McGlynn brace and Odhran McGlynn helping to keep Glenfin in front, as Conor O’Donneel Snr, McGeehin and McGuinness kept St Eunan’s in the hunt. But Frank McGlynn’s team maintained their composure to get over the line by a point.
