St Eunan's were too good for Buncrana at the weekend
St Eunan’s 3-13
Buncrana 1-2
St Eunan’s had too much for an outgunned Buncrana side in a contest played in miserable conditions at O’Donnell Park on Friday.
The Inishowen side had a gale force wind with driving rain behind them early on at the weekend and actually led by 1-1 to 0-3 at the break.
But the stronger Letterkenny lads asserted themselves in the second-half and ran out easy winners as darkness fell heavily.
Wind-assisted Buncrana had a great start when Caolan O’ Neill goaled and he added a point as they led by 1-1 to 0-0 after ten minutes.
Eunan’s replied with points from John Kealy (2) and Matt Ahern to leave the visitors leading by one at the midpoint.
But it also took two great saves from Eunan’s keeper Cian Hennessy to prevent certain goals for Buncrana and a greater upper hand.
But Eunan’s steamed clear in the first ten minutes of the second half. John Kealy netted and four unanswered points from Cathal O’Brien (2), Brendan Gaffey and Gavin Forde put them firmly in command.
Buncrana’s sole reply was a pointed free from Caelan O’Neill. Eunan’s sub Cian Randles also hit the net late on as did Gavin Forde with O’Brien, Forde and Kealy getting the final points for an easy win.
