Johnny McGroddy and Paddy McElwee were the heroes as Downings picked up two precious league points with a narrow win in Division 1 over St Eunan’s on Friday evening.

The deadly duo scored 1-17 of their team's total tally of 1-19. Full-forward McElwee kicked a goal and seven points, with McGroddy posting 10 points. Shane Coll and Kyle McFadden were the other scorers for the locals.

Padraig McGettigan and Dylan Doogan scored the goals for St Eunan’s, with Conor O’Donnell Jnr also showing well.

McGettigan, Eoin McGeehin and Philip Doherty were among the other St Eunan’s men to raise white flags. The win was Downings’ second win in six outings and the defeat was a second in six outings for St Eunan’s, who also lost out to Glenfin. The home side had led 0-10 to 1-5 at the break.
