Four Masters boss Barry Dunnion
Four Masters 1-15
Buncrana 2-6
Four Masters returned to winning form with a solid six-point victory over Buncrana at Tir Conaill Park on Sunday afternoon.
The home side asserted control early on, were seven in front at the break and held their lead throughout to secure the win over Gary Duffy’s Buncrana outfit.
Seanan Carr dispatched an early second-half penalty as Barry Dunnion’s side took a firm grip on matters.
The visitors did briefly reignite the contest on 40 minutes when John Campbell turned sharply in the square and buried the ball past McCaughan, narrowing the gap to four.
However, that would be their last score for a long stretch, as Four Masters dominated the closing stages.
The hosts rattled off five unanswered points in the final quarter, with Carr, Killian Faulkner, Kevin Muldoon, Alex McCalmont and Joe Leape all contributing to stretch the lead to nine entering added time.
Campbell did net a late penalty for Buncrana, but it proved nothing more than a consolation as McGonagle's final whistle confirmed a deserved home win.
