All to play for in penultimate weekend of Donegal All-County Leagues

The countdown is on for honours and relegation in the Donegal All-County Leagues with just two weekends of action left.

Amazingly of the three divisions only Red Hughs and Burt’s promotion from Division 3 and Naomh Muire, Convoy’s relegation from Division 2 have been decided. Every other decision regarding promotion, league finals and relegation are up in the air.

Four Masters put themselves in prime position for a place in the Division 1 final with their win over Naomh Conall last weekend. Termon are also in pole position to make the final. It would be a great feat for both Termon and Four Masters, as they were two of the promoted teams from last year.

The other promoted team, Buncrana, have a battle of a different variety. They have three games left and need points urgently to escape relegation. They play Glenswilly at home on Thursday night and then travel to Termon for a big game on Sunday.

Malin and Kilcar are also in the relegation mix while Downings, St Michael’s and MacCumhaill’s are not safe.

In Division 2 Naomh Muire, Lower Rosses slipped up at the weekend against Carndonagh and may now be involved in a play-off with Aodh Ruadh.  It has become messy because of St Naul’s giving Aodh Ruadh a walkover. Subsequently it looks as if score difference can’t be used so it will be up to the Donegal Competitions Control Committee to decide.

At the bottom of Division 2, Naomh Muire, Convoy have been relegated but there is a battle royale between St Naul’s, Gaeil Fhánada, Cloughaneely, Bundoran and Killybegs.

The bottom two will be relegated while the third from bottom face the third from top of Division 3 for the final promotion/relegation place.

In Division 3 Red Hughs and Burt are guaranteed Division 2 football next year and Naomh Brid fill the promotion/relegation play-off place.
