Punishments dished out to both Donegal and Armagh after Ulster final fracas

Tempers flare at the end of Donegal's Ulster SFC extra-time win over Armagh

Donegal and Armagh have both been handed  €7,500 fines for their parts in the melee that marred the aftermath of May’s Ulster SFC final.

Officials from both counties had originally been asked to attend a disciplinary hearing in Croke Park on Friday to learn their respective fates.

However, with the NFL in town and preparations for the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at an advanced stage, the meeting, instead, took place online.

Respective chairpersons Mary Coughlan and Sean McAlinden were informed there by the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) that the punishments being dished out would be monetary ones.

The CCCC had examined the scenes where a post-match scuffle unfolded as Donegal celebrated a dramatic extra-time win over the then reigning All-Ireland champions.

However, the official footage captured by RTE proved inconclusive and so the only course of action available to the CCCC was to fine both counties.
