Yvonne Bonner was in superb form as Glenfin took their sixth Donegal Senior Ladies title with a nine-point win over Termon in O’Donnell Park.

In a windy Letterkenny, two points from Katy Herron and the rest from Bonner saw Glenfin lead by 1-4 to 0-2 at the break, but had to battle against the breeze after the break.

But when Bonner got her second goal on 39 minutes, it didn’t look like Termon would be able to mount a comeback, as they were limited to just one point from play, and they also lost Ciara McGarvey to a yellow card.

Keen to make it four in a row in their seventh final in a row, Termon had it all to do in the second half but were aided by the elements being on their side, while Glenfin were looking to win the Donna Dunnion Boyle Memorial Cup for the first time since 2021.

And the Páirc Taoboige side were playing with a strong breeze in their favour in the early stages, epitomised when Ciara McGarvey had to take a free from inside the ‘D’ quickly, and the effort still fell short of the goal, while Karen Guthrie had an effort from outside the arc rattle the crossbar, although Yvonne Bonner kicked over soon after that chance.

Katy Herron pointed next as she found space in a central position, while Jodie McFadden got Termon’s first point of the game on twelve minutes.

Paul Bonner’s side then had a few efforts drop short, either side of a Bonner free, and Herron got her second point before they struck for goal.

It came as Guthrie played the ball into Bonner, who rounded her marker, and coming in from the left, she was almost dispossessed but poked the ball towards goal and into the corner.

Termon got a second point as Roisin McCafferty kicked over a free from off the ground on the stroke of half-time, leaving the game at 1-4 to 0-2 at the break.

McGarvey got an early score from a free after the restart, but Bonner responded at the other end as Herron was taken down near the goal.

But Bonner got another goal ten minutes into the half as McCafferty was caught out of her goal with Bonner overturning the ball high up and with half a sight of the goal, swung her boot at the ball, which trickled in with the help of the post.

Guthrie added a free, and it got worse for Adrian and Kevin McGettigan’s side as McGarvey was sin-binned until the 58th minute.

Glenfin added one score in that time through Iona McDaid as Bonner won the ball high up to go ten clear.

And while Jodie McFadden kicked a free in added time, Guthrie responded with a score of her own.

McFadden got another score, just their second from play, proving how Glenfin were worthy winners and will face Tyrone champions Errigal Ciaran in the Ulster quarter-final in two weeks.
