Barry Meehan has stepped down as manager of the St Eunan’s senior football team.

Meehan has vacated the O’Donnell Park hotseat after the second year of his second stint in the role.

Meehan was at the helm for St Eunan’s 1-13 to 1-10 win over Dungloe in the 2024 Donegal Senior Football Championship final.

However, the Cathedral Town side were dethroned by neighbours Termon after extra time in a preliminary quarter-final last month.

“Barry and his backroom team have served the club with distinction, demonstrating exceptional dedication, leadership, and professionalism throughout their tenure,” St Eunan’s said in a statement.

“We are especially proud of Barry’s journey through the club to date - from his involvement at underage level to guiding our senior team to championship success in 2024. His deep connection to the club has been evident every step of the way.

“We wish Barry and his management team every success in their future endeavours and hope to see them back on the sidelines at O'Donnell Park in the not-too-distant future.”

Meehan had a previous term as manager of St Eunan’s in 2017 and was named as the successor to Rory Kavanagh in November 2023.

The principal teacher at Magherabeg National School, Meehan guided St Naul's to victory in the Donegal IFC, defeating Cloughaneely in the final and was a selector with Gaeil Fhánada until 2022.
