The winning Sean McDermotts team with manager Charlie O'Donnell second from left back row
Congratulations to Charlie O'Donnell, formerly of Aodh Ruadh, who was manager of Sean McDermotts who won the Warwickshire Championship at the weekend, defeating Roger Casements by 1-17 to 3-3.
O'Donnell's team are unbeaten since May and were adding the championship to the league, the Fr Forde Cup and the All-Britain 9-a-side championship.
The other Donegal connection on the team is through club chairman, Noel McMenamin, whose son Pearce was corner-back. Noel's father, Michael McMenamin, who passed away in August of this year, was from Curraghamone, Ballybofey and related to the Wards and McGlynns of Glenfin.
Charlie O'Donnell was a senior championship winner with Aodh Ruadh in the 1990s and played for Donegal and minor and U-21 level.
Sean McDermotts now go on to play Scottish champions Dunedin in the British semi-final in two weeks' time.
There were a few Donegal connections on the Roger Casements team with Paul Houston as coach and Dean Bonner from Convoy at half-forward as well as Oisin McElhinney, Red Hughs. Jack Gillespie did play with Roger Casements last year but was back home with Red Hughs this year.
