Four Masters celebrate their MFC title win in O'Donnell Park
Four Masters have learned their quarter-final opponents for the St Paul’s tournament as they look to defend their Ulster crown.
The Donegal Town side made it four-in-a-row in Donegal with an impressive 6-10 to 0-9 win over Glenswilly in O’Donnell Park last Monday to make the provincial championship, where they are seeking a third title in a row.
But their first game will be against somewhat familiar opposition in Derry champions St Canice’s.
The pair met in the final on New Year’s Day 2023 as a late goal from the Dungiven side gave them a 2-7 to 1-8 win to break Four Masters hearts.
They bounced back and won the Ulster title in the last two years, but current captain Turlough Carr, who was remarkably one of four current squad members that was in that panel three years ago, says that defeat still hurts.
“We all know what happened three years ago,” Carr said at the launch of the draw in St Paul’s.

“It was heartbreak for us because we held on and we were leading for most of the game, and they got the killer goal that day.
“We’ll be gunning for them now, and we’re looking for revenge, so I’m looking forward to it now.
“I started on the bench, and I didn’t have much of an impact, but it still killed me, the result."
