The lineup of nominees for several key positions in Donegal GAA has been confirmed ahead of next month’s annual Convention.

This year’s event will take place in Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey, hosted by Glenfin who recently marked their half-century anniversary.

There could be a contest for the vice-chairperson role with current incumbent David McLoone (Aodh Ruadh) possibly facing competition on the night from the nominated Frankie Doherty of St Eunan’s.

Doherty’s five-year term as assistant treasurer has come to an end and the list of nominations to replace him is Brendan Kelly (St Mary’s, Convoy), Kieran Gallagher (Termon) and Michaelle McKenna (Buncrana).

The assistant secretary’s seat could also be up for grabs with nominations submitted for Michelle McKenna and Sharon McGinty of Glenswilly. The current holder of that brief is MacCumhaill’s Darren Collins.

Elsewhere, Catriona Uí Suibhne’s (Gaoth Dobhair) time as cultural officer also comes to an natural end and  Conor Ó Gallachóir (Chloich Cheann Fhaola) seems like he’s going to be the direct replacement there.

Perhaps the biggest surprise on the list is that Cieran Kelly (St Naul’s) is leaving his Ulster Council seat prematurely, having taken up the position in late 2023.

However, it’s understood the St Naul’s man will continue to act as Donegal’s main fundraising driver.

Andy Doherty (Red Hughs) is the other current sitting Donegal Ulster Council delegate. The nominations there, for two spots, are  Frankie Doherty, Conor McDermott (St Mary’s, Convoy) and William Doogan (Aodh Ruadh).

The full list of nominations are:
