Naomh Conaill made light work of the dreadful conditions on Sunday to comfortably bypass Termon and make the U-21 A final.

Wind and rain lashed Pairc Naomh Columba throughout the course of the hour in Glenswilly, but the Glenties side still managed to string together some excellent passages of play en route to a dominant 13-point win.

This one was expected to be a real contest, but for some reason or another, Termon just couldn’t find any rhythm as Naomh Conaill progressed to tee up what should be a cracking decider with Four Masters.

Michael O’Malley’s charges - kicking with the breeze in the first-half - exited 1-7 to 0-2 clear at the midpoint.

However, when Patrick Fagan scorched a superb goal to the back of the Glenties net seconds after the restart, it felt like the touch paper had just been lit.

But Naomh Conaill would quickly dampen that newfound Termon enthusiasm and hold the Burn Road outfit scoreless for the remaining 29 or so minutes of the second stanza.

Shea Malone and Stephen McDevitt had Naomh Conaill three to the good early on before Evan Keown and Oisin Harkin narrowed the gap back to one at the close of the opening quarter.

Strangely, that was as good as it got for Temon in relation to white flags as Naomh Conaill went and tagged on consecutive overs through Malone and a Tiernan Ward triple, which also included a fine two-pointer.

Finnbarr Roarty had turned over possession inside his own half on 21 minutes, and with Oran Doherty helping out, both men combined to tee up Malone for Naomh Conaill’s first goal as they eventually exited eight to the good at the break.

This one still felt like a contest, however, as Termon would be moving with the elements on the changeover.

And when Fagan buried the ball to the net soon after the restart, it felt like that intervention had the potential to be a real pendulum swinger.

But credit to Naomh Conaill and their game management, and they would grab the next score thanks to a lovely Ward free from the wide right.

A Harkin free from distance did drop in and around the Glenties goalmouth, but Termon just couldn’t get a leg to the stray ball.

And with Stephen McDevitt and Malone clipping back-to-back points, 1-10 now led 1-2 with ten to go.

Before the end, Danny Brown, a Malone free and a second green flag raised by Finnbarr Roarty sealed Naomh Conaill’s comfortable passage.

And to compound a miserable afternoon for the side in maroon, Harkin walked to a straight red card right before the whistle.
