Mark Byrne accepts the cup as Lucan Sarsfields were crowned champions
A player with strong Donegal roots helped Lucan Sarsfields to win the Dublin Minor A Hurling title on Sunday.
Mark Byrne is the captain of Lucan and they defeated St Jude’s 4-13 to 2-13 at O’Toole Park on Sunday morning.
Byrne is the son of Derek Byrne from Glenties and Sandra Cannon, who hails from Kilcar.
Byrne has played for the Dublin minors and collected the silverware on Sunday.
Jack Mills nabbed an early goal for Lucan and two more goals by Paidi Murphy gave them a 3-5 to 0-7 lead at half-time.
Adam Morris brought St Jude’s right back into it, but Michael O’Brien’s fourth goal steadied any wobbles.
