While we didn’t get to see the first glimpse of Jim McGuinness’ 2026 Donegal squad in action on Sunday against Derry as the game was called off due to safety concerns, we did get a sneak preview of what the panel may look like come springtime.
Big names were still missing, with the likes of Shaun Patton, Eoghan ‘Ban’ Gallagher, Oisin Gallen, Michael Murphy and the injured Ciarán Thompson not named. McGuinness still had a strong starting 15 named, with twelve of the side named to start featuring in the All-Ireland final against Kerry.
But there were also nine new faces brought in to the panel for the 2026 McKenna Cup, and the bench looked almost completely different from last year.
