ATU Donegal 3-21
SETU Carlow 1-11
ATU Donegal topped their group in the Trench Cup with another convincing win against SETU Carlow in Darver, Louth.
Paddy McElwee, Bailey McBride and Sean Breen got the goals for the side, with McElwee also adding a couple of frees.
Captain Luke McGlynn continued his fine form with five from play, while Shane Callaghan, Jack Gallagher, Shea Malone and Odhran Doherty also added a couple of scores each, along with one each from Kieran O’Kane and Oisin Caulfield.
Maxi Curran’s side led for almost the entirety of the game, starting with Jack Gallagher’s first-minute point, and a brace of frees from McElwee, with the Downings clubman hitting a 20th-minute goal to give them a strong lead.
SETU Carlow hit a couple of two pointers in the first half with a breeze, but they still trailed by 1-7 to 0-6 at the break.
And like in their wins over Garda College and South West College, ATU powered on in the second half, starting with a score from outside the arc from McGlynn.
A couple more points from Glenfin's McGlynn, along with a goal from McBride, put them ahead by double digits.
Donegal’s goal hero in the Division 1 opener against Dublin, Malone, hit a two-pointer before Carlow raised the green flag, but the Donegal side dominated in the final ten minutes.
