Monaghan 0-8
Donegal 1-9
Donegal U-20s secured their second win in as many outings with an impressive victory over Monaghan in Castleblayney.
Monaghan edged in front early on thanks to a Jamie Mooney ‘45’, but Donegal quickly settled into the game. Kevin Muldoon proved a key figure in attack, finishing with 1-2, while Eoghan Scott also bagged a first-half point.
But the home side responded well before the break, with Max McGinnity on target from a free and Matthew Finn adding two scores as Gary Boyle’s side eventually exited 1-3 to 0-4 clear.
The visitors - with Finnbarr Roarty leading the charge - made a strong restart, with the Young Footballer of the Year and Kalvin McLaughlin both landing points
Matthew Finn and Shane Callaghan then exchanged points as Donegal held a 1-5 to 0-5 advantage.
Monaghan reduced the deficit thanks to Sean O’Connell but Donegal replied through Thomas Lenehan and a super two-point effort from McLaughlin.
And a late score from Finn wasn’t enough to deny Donegal, who held out for a deserved away win.
