Michael Langan has been named the GAA.ie Footballer of the Week after Donegal’s Division 1 final win over Kerry on Sunday.

The St Michael’s man stood out once again for Donegal as they blitzed Kerry and he helped build an early lead with five first-half points, including a pair of two-pointers.

He added another score in the second half and linked brilliantly with Conor O’Donnell for the Carndonagh man’s stunning goal, which brought Donegal to life in the 3-20 to 2-10 win as he, along with joint-captain Shane O’Donnell, lifted the Corn Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh on the Hogan steps.

The Donegal star received 5,269 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page, which put him well ahead of Meath's Ruairí Kinsella (3,398), Carlow's Conor Doyle (2,092), and Down's Daniel Guinness (1,979).

Two other Donegal players were named in the Team of the Week in Caolan McColgan and Max Campbell.

McColgan also put in a terrific shift when being tasked with marking David Clifford.

The Naomh Pádraig Uisce Chaoin man kept the Footballer of the Year to just 1-1, with the goal coming near the end when the result wasn’t in any doubt.

Max Campbell also starred on the big stage in HQ as the Naomh Conaill teenager had a brilliant match in keeping tabs on Sean O’Shea, while he also kicked three points at the other end.

It wasn’t to be as successful a weekend for the hurlers, but Liam McKinney still stood out in the Division 3 final, and he was nominated for Hurler of the Week.

Burt clubman McKinney chipped in when needed and hit 1-8 for Mickey McCann’s side, with 1-3 of that coming from play as they lost out by 3-16 to 2-18.

McKinney was runner-up in the voting as he finished with 1,797 votes, behind Sligo’s Andrew Kilcullen, who received 2,078 votes, with Wicklow's Seanie Germaine in third (1,510).
