Just a point separated the sides at the finish of an even and keenly contested encounter from the first whistle to the last with Odhran MacNiallais nailing five points for the winners

Odhran MacNiallais was in scoring form for Gaoth Dobhair at the weekend.

Gaoth Dobhair held on for a narrow win after being put to the pin of their collar by  Glenfin on Saturday evening in Magheragallon.

Just a point separated the sides at the finish of an evenly and keenly contested encounter from the first whistle to the last. 

Glenfin, who are still chasing a first win and with only one point on the league table from their opening day 0-9  each draw with Cloughaneely, led 1-5 to 0-6 at half-time. Mark McGinty’s goal in the middle of the opening half the big score.  

And while Gaoth Dobhair had the better of the second half exchanges and led by three points 0-14 to 1-8 closing in on full-time, Glenfin finished strong with late points from Shaun Ward and Odhran McGlynn to cut the Gaoth Dobhair lead to one.

County U-20 player Ward was the game’s top scorer and ended the game with a personal tally of 0-8. Former county senior Odhran Mac Niallais posted 0-5 of his side's tally. 

The win means Gaoth Dobhair have gone to the top of the Division One table on eight points from their four wins from four games.
