Burt make easy work of Dungloe at Hibernian Park

Burt, who defeated Dungloe on Friday night.

Burt had a pretty comprehensive win over a battling Dungloe who had considerable chances but came up short in the scoring stakes at Hibernian Park.

Burt 3-13 Dungloe 0-6

Dungloe had the first few attacks, but it was the much more clinical Burt who hit the first score. Kieran Brady had a somewhat lucky goal after five minutes which gave them a solid platform for the rest of the half.

Leo Doherty, Kevin Glenn and Gavin McGrath all hit points to put them into a 1-3 to 0-0 lead before Thomas Hartnett opened the visitor’s account in the 15th minute.  Two more points from Conor Diver and Hartnett left just a goal between the sides.

But Burt finished the half strongly with further points from Doherty, Brady, McGrath and Callum Purves to leave the home side leading by 1-7 to 0-3. Dungloe had the breeze in the second half but failed to make use of it as Burt took their chances with considerable efficiency.

Brady opened their account with a point which was replied to by Brendan Boyle. But two goals from Doherty and Brady in the 40th and 45th minute effectively sealed the deal for the Inishowen men.

Paul Burns, Jack Gallagher, Brady and Doherty hit a number of points as Dungloe replied through James Hartnett and Thomas Hartnett. An easy win in the end for a Burt side who showed they have considerable strength in depth. But Dungloe will rue those chances they spurned to make this more of a contest on the scoreboard.
