Donegal All-Ireland winner Tony Boyle has presided over back-to-back promotions and league titles with Dungloe ladies in what have been a couple of fantastic years for the club.

After defeating Urris in last year’s Division Three league final, Boyle and Dungloe followed up that success with Sunday's Division 2 win over Gaeil Fhánada.

“We had won promotion a couple of weeks ago and it is nice now to win the final and go up as champions,” said Boyle after the victory over Gaeil Fhánada.

“Promotion was not something we targeted at the start of the year because after coming up  from Division Three at the end of last season we did not know what to expect in the higher level.

“It was a matter of taking it game by game and it was a matter of consolidating ourselves in Division Two and taking it from there.

“But the league went well for us and this is the crowning glory today. It is back to back promotions and league titles.

“We won Division Three last season which is testament of those that went before me and the great work done by many people at underage in the club”.

Dungloe played with the aid of a strong breeze in the first-half at  the weekend and set their stall out from very early and were in a good position at half-time having built up a seven-point lead.

“We had the breeze in the first half and we were 1-7 to 0-3 up at half-time and we felt we probably should  have scored another few points and be 1-11 or 1-12 on the board.

“But the important thing was that we had played well in the first half and it was a matter of keeping up in the second half.

“And thankfully we did that and scored a couple of early points and then Ava (Caulfield) scored the second goal to extend our lead out to 12 points, I think it was.

“We were under a little bit of pressure late on when they scored the goal but we held out and won well enough in the end.”
