Brendan Doherty returns as Naomh Columba boss
Naomh Columba have announced Brendan Doherty as their new senior manager for the upcoming 2024 season.
A native of the Glencolmcille area, this will be the third time in 11 years that Doherty will take to the hot seat as the club’s senior boss having managed them for one season in 2013, before taking the role again for a second time in 2015 for two years.
Doherty replaces Paddy J McGinley who stood down following his two seasons in charge at the club, which saw the Naomh Columba team return to the All-County Division 1 after serving over a decade in Division 2.
Announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, this afternoon, the club stated; “CLG Naomh Columba are delighted to announce the appointment of Brendan Doherty as our senior football manager for the season ahead.”
The club is looking for a return to the senior championship after falling at the intermediate quarter-final stage to Termon last September in a five-point defeat.
Naomh Columba reached the 2022 Intermediate final only to lose to Dungloe on a scoreline of 1-8 to 0-4 points and will be hoping now to do one better in 2024 under their new manager.
