Kilcar 1-15 Termon 2-4
A damp day in the Burn Road saw Termon host the second round of the Gaeltacht, with a game that neither team will feel showed their full potential
But Michael Hegarty will see a lot of positives from his Kilcar side as they headed back to Towney with a victory.
After a strong start from the home side with a well-taken goal from Jack Alcorn in the opening minutes, Kilcar pulled their way back with both teams on three points at the seven-minute mark.
A goal from Eoin McHugh after 12 minutes put the men in blue-and-gold four ahead. Kilcar kept kicking the points as Termon slowed, with the men in maroon going in three down at the half-time mark.
It was a low-scoring second half, with both teams getting two points in the opening 10 minutes. Termon would fail to get a flag raised after that, while Kilcar scored two more to leave it a 5-point margin by the final whistle.
Both teams will have felt that they left scores behind them with a number of wides from both. A fast attack off a hop-ball resulted in a goal for Kilcar in the second half, but Pat Barrett ruled a square ball, and it was disallowed.
Termon missed a one-on-one goal as well and struggled with wides in the second half. A black card to Gareth Gallagher left Termon with 14 men for the last 10 minutes of the game with Kilcar running out 1-15 to 2-4 winners.
