Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn launched their annual U14 girls' football competition, the Fiona Doherty Memorial Cup, at their clubhouse at Pairc na nGael.
Coaches and players from the participating clubs Termon, Convoy and Glenfin attended the launch of the annual inter-club U14 Girls football Memorial Cup. Fiona’s mother Margaret Gallagher and her sister Leoine Gallagher were also in attendance.
Fiona Doherty was a valued member of CLG Ghaeil Leitir Ceanainn and played for the club’s senior ladies’ team before she lost her life tragically in 2016. Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn has hosted the memorial cup in her memory since 2019. The tournament, which has been a great success over the last five years, has been supported by Fiona’s husband Ciaran Doherty and the Gallagher family. Previous winners include Sean MacCumhaills, Termon and Cloughaneely.
