Joint-seventh biggest ever championship win (14 points)
Donegal 3-6 Fermanagh 0-1
June 14, 1925
Ulster SFC quarter-final
Donegal’s first-ever championship meeting with Fermanagh took place 99 years ago in Ballyshannon “before a record crowd of spectators … where the streets presented an animated and congested appearance,” according to the Donegal Democrat report at the time. A comfortable interval lead of 2-4 to 0-0 set up the victory, with Whelan and Carey the goalscorers. Donegal would lose out to Cavan back in Ballyshannon in the Ulster semi-final on a scoreline of 6-0 to 0-2.
