Four Masters celebrate promotion
Four Masters secured their passage back to the top tier of the All-County League with a 0-13 to 1-9 away win over Milford at the weekend.
Kevin Sinclair’s charges currently sit top of the pile and are through to the Division 2 decider. And captain Caolan Loughney says he and his teammates are looking forward to testing themselves against the best sides in the county in 2024.
Killybegs, Termon and Buncrana all still have a chance of being in that same decider. But for Masters, they’re just content to have guaranteed their promotion at the weekend.
“It’s really come together well with the younger lads really stepping up,” Loughney said. “Milford are a good side and we knew going up there they’d make it tough.
“It was good to be able to grind it out. We’ve only lost one game and it’s going to be good now to see how we stand up to the best teams in the county that are in Division 1.
“That’s where you want to be playing your league football. For a club like Masters, with the good underage teams we’re producing, that’s the next step now.
“We dropped down to Division 3 at one stage and it was a low ebb. But we stuck at it. We found some consistency with players and even the management. That’s been really important.
“And we’ve already mentioned it but the younger talent coming in, it’s really exciting”.
