Glenfin 1-7
Dungloe 1-11
Dungloe turned in their best performance of the season to post a four-point win over Glenfin in the Donegal SFC.
The side managed by Dessie Gallagher put in a superb third quarter, with the winds at their back, to turn things around having trailed by five points at a stage early on.
Darren Curran scored the Dungloe goal and Aaron Neely, Conor Greene, Daire Gallagher, Dylan Sweeney, Barry Curran, Oisin Bonnner, Danny Rodgers all raised white flags for the men for the Rosses.
Daniel Marley netted for the home team and Luke McGlynn, Mark McGinty, Aaron McGlynn and Odhran O’Connor kicked the points for a below-par Glenfin.
The locals won the toss and elected to play with the advantage of the strong wind.
It looked a good decision when they raced into an early 0-3 to 0-0 lead after 10 minutes and Glenfin were soon five up thanks to a Mark McGinty point and 20th minute Marley goal.
Glenfin may have been 1-4 to 0-2 in front but Dungloe got back in the game when midfielder Darren Curran got on the end of a good move involving Ryan Connors and Conor Greene to rattle the back of the Glenfin net.
On a day of packed defences, Luke McGlynn kicked the only point of the closing 10 minutes to send his side in 1-5 to 1-2 ahead.
Dungloe, who were slow to come out after half-time opened the second period, in whirlwind fashion.
They reeled off six points without reply in the opening 13 minutes of the half courtesy of Daire Gallagher, Dylan Sweeney, Barry Curran, Ryan Connors, Oisin Bonner, Conor Greene to pull three points clear, 1-8 to 1-5, with the bulk of the scores coming from long range.
And as the eventual winners continued to dominate Danny Rodgers and Connors extended the lead out to five points before Odhran O’Connor kicked Glenfin’s first point of the half on 58 minutes.
Gerard Ward added Glenfin’s second point of the second period before Dylan Sweeney brought down the curtain on the scoring for a deserved win for the men from Rosses Park.
