Michael Darragh Macauley at the Buncrana Parkrun
Former Dublin All-Ireland winner Michael Darragh Macauley and Donegal legend Eamon McGee were both present in Buncrana on Saturday morning to take part in the Buncrana Parkrun, following on from last week’s successful event
Last weekend, Buncrana Parkrun celebrated its seventh anniversary with the event hosting an admirable 75 runners, joggers, and walkers taking part.
Over 20 volunteers made the Parkrun possible and were where thankful that the sun came out for the finishers on the Inishowen peninsula.
Taking to social media, the organisers said, “Last weekend's Buncrana Parkrun happened because of the support of our volunteers, who rise early and withstand in all seasons. There’s no experience needed to be a volunteer and there are so many benefits. It's a great way of meeting up and catching up.”
Regarding Macauley’s presence in Buncrana, the Buncrana Parkrun members took to Facebook saying: “We’re delighted that the new chief executive of Sanctuary Runners Ireland and former All-Ireland Dublin GAA star Michael Darragh Macauley will attend Buncrana Parkrun.
“He will join us with his old enemy, Donegal Gaelic footballer Eamon McGee, and possibly some others. We look forward to giving them a good Buncrana Parkrun welcome along with our friends from Sanctuary Runners.”
