Memorable performances from past Donegal Senior County finals

With the county final vastly approaching, we decided to take a look at just some of the standout individual performances in Donegal senior football county finals down through the years

Michael ‘Sticky’ Ward 1998 – Aodh Ruadh 

Only 21-years-old at the time, the corner-forward produced a fantastic performance, nailing 1-4, including a superb goal five minutes from time for his side as they clinched their first county title in four years, with a 1-11 to 0-11 point win over Naomh Columba. 

John Duffy was equally as impressive on the day as he battled through the pain barrier of a hamstring injury to guide his side over the line. 

Despite the Glen side staying with the Ballyshannon men throughout the match, late points from Brian Roper and Ward going into the final minutes of the match game the Aodh Ruadh team a two-point cushion, until Ward blasted the only goal of the game into the net to win it for his side.
