Picking the then Donegal captain as that day’s Man of the Match was perhaps the easiest job the esteemed members of the press had conducted up to that point in county finals.
It was the stuff of dreams for the then 22-year-old who tallied 1-7 out of a possible 1-8 for his team as they captured their first championship in history against St Michael’s.
His 42nd-minute goal is ne still remembered in the Glen to this day and set his side on their way to county glory.
