Gallery: Fourteen memorable moments from Michael Murphy's career . . . so far

Here are fourteen moments to celebrate the return of the man who wore number 14 throughout his career and is widely regarded as Donegal's greatest player

2007: Championship debut 

Having not been a part of the National league winning side earlier that spring, Murphy was recalled to the squad for the 2007 championship campaign where he made his debut against Leitrim. 

No doubt, it is a day he will never forget, with the future captain top scoring on the day for his county as they secured the narrowest of victories after extra-time on a 1-16 to 1-14 scoreline. 

Murphy’s goal had the Ulstermen leading 1-05 to 0-06 at half-time but Ciaran Duignan, who finished with 0-07, pegged Donegal back and typified Leitrim's never-say-die attitude to bring the game to extra-time even when Murphy’s 69th minute point looked to seal it for McIver’s men, Leitrim fought back. 

It was far from a commanding victory, but Murphy put his stamp firmly on a team that needed him moving forward.
