This win marked Donegal's first triumph in Killarney and Donegal's first win on Kerry soil since 1988, ending a 37-year wait.

The result not only boosts their position in the league but also serves as a statement of intent for the season ahead. Securing two wins from two underlines Donegal's strong start and their ambitions moving forward despite setbacks with injuries.

Parallels were starting to be drawn from Donegal's last win in Kerry when a Kilcar man by the name of Martin McHugh was top scorer that day with five points. His son Ryan replicated that on Saturday with five points of his own.
