Sean McVeigh has confirmed his retirement from inter-county hurling.
The 31-year-old Letterkenny man won the Lory Meagher Cup with Donegal in 2011 and is also a three-time Nicky Rackard Cup winner.
‘Some journey over the years,’ McVeigh wrote on Instagram. ‘Times up’.
McVeigh made his Donegal senior debut when he was just 16 years old.
The St Eunan’s man scored a point in the 2011 Lory Meagher Cup win over Tyrone.
McVeigh played in the 2013, 2018 and 2020 Nicky Rackard Cup final wins against Roscommon, Warwickshire and Mayo.
He was the captain for the 2020 campaign.
In the 2013 decider, when Donegal won the prize for the first time, McVeigh scored 1-1.
Despite relocating to Spain in 2018, McVeigh still flew home regularly to turn out for Donegal.
A dual star, McVeigh won Donegal SFC titles with St Eunan’s in 2012 and 2014. In 2021, McVeigh won a Donegal senior hurling and senior football championship double.
