Amy Boyle Carr in action for Sligo Rovers against Shelbourne last month
Amy Boyle Carr scored her first goal for Sligo Rovers in the Women’s National League on Saturday.
The Glenties native - who signed for the club last month - opened the scoring in the 4-2 defeat against Athlone Town with a goal inside of four minutes.
Boyle Carr played a pivotal role for Donegal as they reached the LGFA TG4 All-Ireland SFC semi-final and the Lidl National Football League Division 1 final this season. She has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at senior level.
However, the hosts hit back to lead 3-1 at half with Gillian Keenan scoring twice and Kellie Brennan also on the scoresheet.
Sligo hit back 13 minutes from time with a goal by Paula McGrory, formerly of Illies Celtic and Buncrana’s Emma Doherty went close to an equaliser before Emily Corbett sealed the midlanders’ victory with a last minute goal. It means that Sligo remain in eighth place in the first season in the senior ranks, with 19 points from their 19 games.
