The Donegal GAA Centre in Convoy
The Donegal GAA Centre at Convoy will be officially opened next month with a host of dignitaries to be present.
The centre, which houses five pitches along with the main administration building for the GAA in the county, will be officially opened on Friday, October 21 at 12 noon. Among those who will be present for the opening include Minister for Sport Jack Chambers; GAA President Larry McCarthy; Ulster GAA President Ciaran McLaughlin and secretary of Ulster Council, Brian McAvoy.
Donegal GAA chairman Mick McGrath confirmed that the fifth pitch has been seeded and the grass will be growing by the time the official opening is performed.
The facility has been a number of years in the making and now houses five pitches that are used by a host of county and college teams.
The fifth pitch will also include a modern LED floodlit system, which is being prepared specially at present in the US. It will be one of the most modern floodlighting systems in the country. The project has been developed under a number of development officers with McGrath closely associated with it in recent years. There will also be representatives from all the clubs in the county invited to the official opening.
