Killybegs opened their season with an away win over Dungloe, in Rosses Park this afternoon.

A Hugh McFadden goal towards the end of the first quarter was the defining score in this keenly contested season opener. .

The goal on 11 minutes tucked away well by McFadden opened up a three point lead for the visitors after the sides had been level twice in the early exchanges.  

McFadden from a free extended the Killybegs lead out to four points and in the closing minutes of the half Danny Rodgers, Noel McBride and Adam Neilly scored for Dungloe and McFadden pointed for Killybegs to lead 1-7 to 0-7 at half-time.

Killybegs courtesy of strikes from Seamus Byrne,Ryan Cunningham John ‘Ban’ Gallagher and McFadden opened up a six point lead on the resumption.

But Dungloe hung in and late points from Danny Rodgers, Daniel Ward, Noel McBride,Gerard Ward and Adam Neilly reduced the margin to three in injury time.
