Community invited to remember loved ones in ‘Shine a Light Over Glenties’ campaign

The 'Shine a Light Over Glenties' campaign help light up the town this Christmas

A campaign has been launched in Glenties for people in the community to remember their loved ones this Christmas.

The Glenties Harvest Fair Committee and the Glenties Town Team are inviting the community to take part in “Shine a Light Over Glenties.” As part of the campaign, people can buy a lightbulb and write a loved one’s name on it, and the bulb will shine with the Christmas lights over the town.

Organisers say the idea is a “simple but meaningful” way to remember loved ones and light up Glenties this Christmas.

Glenties Harvest Fair Festival shared: “It is a heartfelt way to remember those we miss while helping to fill the town with warmth, light and community spirit.

“Each bulb is available for a suggested donation of €5 or any amount you feel comfortable giving. Every contribution will go towards making the town’s Christmas lights even more magical this year. There will also be some festive touches and fun surprises for families along the way.

“The Glenties Harvest Fair Committee and the Glenties Town Team hope the campaign will bring people together to celebrate, remember and share in the joy of the season. Please help spread the word so we can all light up Glenties together this Christmas.”
