Uisce Éireann restoring west Donegal water supply following ‘unplanned outage’

Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to customers in Croithlí, Anagaire, Loch an Iúir, Rann na Feirste and surrounding areas this afternoon.

The persisting water outage is due to a mechanical issue encountered at Croithlí Water Treatment Plant while essential maintenance works were being carried out earlier today.

The reservoir cleaning works were scheduled to take place from 8am until 5pm, affecting Dungloe, Crolly and the surrounding areas. Reservoir levels have fallen and this is impacting supply to homes and businesses on the Na Rosa Regional Public Water Supply Scheme.

“We acknowledge the impact of an outage such as this and we assure impacted customers that we are doing all we can to bring supply back to normal levels as quickly as possible,” Damien O’Sullivan of Uisce Éireann said.

The repairs are due to be complete by 6pm this evening; however, it typically takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. It may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network as the system recharges.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from Uisce Éireann for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Donegal County Council advises that you allow 3–4 hours for your supply to fully return.
