Some of the roads in the Glenties Municipal District have been left in “unacceptable” condition.
Glenties MD Councillor Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig has highlighted that following works by service providers such as Uisce Éireann, the roads were not brought back to the original standard.
“Road openings are extremely common,” he told DonegalLive. “I could give loads of examples, such as Loch an Lúir and Gaoth Dobhair.

“It is not acceptable that when reinstatement is happening by some of the service providers, for example, Uisce Éireann or internet providers, that they are not leaving the reinstatement to an acceptable and high quality.
“We, as a local council MD are using Bitmac on a good number of roads and this leaves the road in good quality. Then, for any of the service providers to come along, dig up the road and not reinstate properly is unacceptable.”
