The protest will take place at the doors of Donegal Airport on Saturday at 2pm
A protest will take place at Donegal Airport over the future of Public Service Obligation flights operated by Emerald Airlines.
This follows the announcement that the contract between the government and Emerald Airlines was to change as of February 25, 2026. Resulting in the total loss of the afternoon flight, which is used by Donegal Cancer Flights and Services.
Councillor Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig is encouraging people to bring their Donegal flags and show up in support to Carrickfinn on Saturday at 2pm.

“For these flight times are best suited to the community that the PSO is here to serve, we travel to go to work, we travel to go back to the countries we had to emigrate to, we travel for business, we travel for health care and for cancer treatment,” Councillor Mac Giolla Easbuig said.
“Aerfort Dhún na nGall is the beating heart of our community, the airport community gives so much and that is clearly evident to anyone who uses the service and the contempt of this government towards us is unacceptable and shall be and is being challenged.
“The protest at 2pm will take place outside the gates of Aerfort Dhún na nGall. With the Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael Government forcing a time change to our scheduled flights ó An Ghaeltacht i nDún na nGall, all in the best interest of this private company, Emerald Airlines.
“I believe that this is a very clear indication of the contempt that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have towards our community, An Ghaeltacht.”
