‘Donegal’s voice will be heard’ as meeting confirmed with Minister for Transport

Donegal Cancer Flights & Services members as well as Donegal TDs in support of the midday service between Donegal and Dublin

Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien TD, will meet with Donegal Cancer Flights & Services, it has been confirmed. 

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 24, at 1:15pm in Dáil Éireann. The group are hoping to have the PSO contract changed, which cut the afternoon flight service between Donegal and Dublin, operated by Emerald Airlines. 

The new terms of the airline contract have sparked significant backlash, with the traditional midday service being removed. Instead, the schedule will shift to an early 6:30am flight from Dublin and an 8:30pm return from Donegal.

“Donegal’s voice will be heard,” Donegal Cancer Flights & Services shared. “The meeting has been secured with the Minister for Transport. We carry your signatures and your stories with us.”

The petition, which has garnered over 18,000 signatures, was created by Mary Coyle, who manages Donegal Cancer Flights and Services. The charity states that over 500 patients avail of the flights from Carrickfinn.
