Manager of Donegal Cancer Flights & Services, Mary Coyle, was among those who shaved her head in solidarity with cancer patients.
Donegal Cancer Flights & Services, which is based in Ionad Naomh Pádraig in Dobhar, provides subsidised flights for more than 500 cancer patients in the county to go for treatment, whether by air or by ground.
Mary opened Feile Croithlí 2026, in which there was an evening dedicated to survivors who rely on the organisation.
“In a deeply moving moment, Mary herself made the brave and humble decision to shave her head, standing in solidarity with those she supports,” Organiser Ciara Boyle said. “ Mary was joined by Ultan O’Donnell, grandson of the late Stephen Anne O’Donnell, Liam, Neil, Denis & Father Brian a gesture that captured the heart of everyone present.
“Together, through the generosity of our local community & Coiste Fobartha Chroithlí and incredible online support, we raised over €15,550. As a committee, we are beyond proud and truly honoured to stand behind this cause and the people it supports.”
A fundraiser has been established - Charity Head shave Feile Chroithlí 2026 - or alternatively donations can be left in to Ionad Naomh Pádraig Dobhar, O'Donnell Fuels Crolly or Teach Paidi Oig.
