Ballybofey and Stranolar golfer Ryan Griffin has been selected as part of the Ireland team that will compete at the R&A Home Internationals taking place in Scotland next week.

Griffin has been chosen as part of a nine-man team that will compete at the Murcar Links course in Aberdeenshire from August 7-9.

The Donegal native demonstrated impressive form recently, leading the stroke play at the Pierse Motors Volkswagen South of Ireland Amateur Open Championship by four strokes after two days of competition.

However, Griffin had to withdraw from the tournament during the match play stages due to a back injury sustained after his victory in the last 32.

Joining Griffin in the team is Liam Nolan from Galway, who brings valuable experience following his participation in The Open. Colm Campbell from Warrenpoint also returns, having been part of last year's team, while Seán Keeling from Roganstown was a member of the winning Boys’ team in 2023.

Paul Coughlan from Castleknock earned his spot as an automatic selection from the Bridgestone Order of Merit. He is joined by Hugh Foley from Royal Dublin, Thomas Higgins from Roscommon, Josh Hill from Galgorm Castle, and Luke O’Neill from Connemara.

Max Kennedy from Royal Dublin and Caolan Rafferty from Dundalk were also automatic selections based on their World Amateur Golf Ranking, along with Matt McClean through both the WAGR and Bridgestone Order of Merit. Unfortunately, they are unavailable for this event.
