Big-hearted students from an Inishowen primary school have generously raised €827 for the RNLI Lough Swilly Lifeboat.
Sixth-class pupils from Scoil Naomh Iósaf, Illies gathered the sum with the help of their parents, and it was recently presented to a delighted Gareth Evans, Lough Swilly RNLI's fundraising manager.
The Buncrana-based charity, which has saved countless lives at sea over the decades, relies on community donations and the efforts of volunteer members to continue to provide its much-needed service.
A spokesperson for the Lough Swilly RNLI branch, which has been in operation since 1988, paid tribute to everyone at Scoil Naomh Iósaf, who contributed to the cause.
“A huge thanks to the staff and pupils at the Illies National School, who raised €827 for Lough Swilly RNLI,” they said.
“Your generosity is greatly appreciated,” they added.
