Planned housing development for Ballyshannon

A planning application has been submitted to Donegal County Council for a new 35-property development in Ballyshannon.

The planned development is due to be located in the north of Ballyshannon, at a site next to Camp Lane in the townland of Coolcholly.

A children’s playground and an open space amenity in the centre of the planned housing estate are also included in the application, as well as upgrading the existing road by widening it by 6 metres, with a footpath.

There are different-sized dwellings planned for the 35 properties designated. Plans include 16 two-bedroom apartments, 14 three-bedroom semi-detached houses, a three-bedroom house, and four four-bedroom three-storey houses.

Donegal County Council has yet to publish a decision due date for the planning permission to be accepted or rejected.

The Camp Lane development is the second multi-housing development in Ballyshannon that has entered planning application details to Donegal County Council recently, after developers entered an application for a six-dwelling estate for Station Road at the end of June 2025.
