Donegal Castle
Donegal Castle, as well as three other tourist attractions within the county, will have free admission for all visitors under the age of 18 for the month of August 2025.
The move is part of the Office of Public Works’ (OPW) policy announced by the Minister of State for the Office of Public Works, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, for free admission for all individuals under 18 to heritage sites across the country for the month of August 2025.
Newmills Corn and Flax Mills, Glebe Gallery and Garden, and Doe Castle are the other Donegal attractions to have free admission for under-18s during August 2025.

The offer coincides with National Heritage Week, which takes place from August 16 to 24.
Launching the initiative, Minister Moran said: “I am delighted to announce that all under-18s will have free entry to OPW heritage sites this August, as part of a new pilot scheme.
“We are fortunate to have such incredible castles, monuments, and historic properties across the country that are invaluable educational resources.
“I encourage all our young people to get out and explore their local heritage this summer. Our sites are the perfect backdrop to meet friends, explore a fascinating site, and have a treat at the local cafe.”
