The winning Maghery Fife & Drum Band
The chairperson of Maghery Fife & Drum Band told Donegal Live she was “absolutely delighted” after securing their ninth consecutive Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann title.
Annemarie O’Donnell, who is also a drum instructor, said it was “a dream come true” to target a tenth consecutive title in the Over-18 Flute Marching Bands category in next year’s competition in Belfast.
Speaking after this year’s victory in Wexford, Annemarie commented: “We are absolutely delighted.

“It is something that when we set out to win the first All-Ireland in 2015, after a hiatus, we jokingly said we were on the road to 10-in-a-row, but we never imagined we would get to this stage.
“The thought that we are working towards the 10-in-a-row is a dream come true.”
When asked about this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, Annemarie responded: “It was very well organised this year. Wexford had a very good committee, and the organisers were very good. It was great to be there and great to be in the competition.”
