Drumnacroil House in Ballintra
Planning permission granted by Donegal County Council for the extension of a Ballintra B&B, currently used as an Emergency Accommodation for Ukrainian refugees, has been appealed to An Coimisiún Pleanála.
The applicant successfully applied for planning permission for Drumnacroil House in June 2025, for the attic utilisation to provide four additional bedrooms for bed & breakfast use and all associated site works.
However, appellants to the decision lodged their planning appeal to An Coimisiún Pleanála in August 2025.

In the appeal, the appellant alleges that Drumnacroil House “does not comply with Government Requirements for Emergency Accommodation,” due to “no safe pedestrian access to public services.”
The appellant also details alleged environmental and fire safety concerns.
A decision date for the appeal to An Coimisiún Pleanála is due by December 16, 2025.
