Seaview Tavern
Ireland’s most northerly guesthouse has been granted planning permission to upgrade its restaurant facilities and add seven new bedrooms.
Seaview Tavern, in Ballygorman, Malin Head, was granted permission by Donegal County Council for the demolition of an existing restaurant area, and the erection of a two-storey extension, containing the upgrading of a restaurant area to include new toilets and a bar, a revised reception and seating area, and the provision of seven extra bedrooms.
New storage area at the basement level, which is to include under roadway pedestrian crossing (L-1021-1), was included in the application, as was all associated site works and connection to existing services on site.

Donegal County Council granted the planning permission for the proposals with 10 conditions, including a condition that the applicant shall contribute €2,978.91 as a payment in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided or is intended will be provided by the Authority.
Long-established in Malin Head, the Seaview Tavern was known as Barney Grant’s before being purchased by William Matthew and Vera Doherty in 1973.
The establishment overlooks the Atlantic Ocean with views west towards the Malin Head Pier, and Portmore Beach, north to Inishtrahull Island, and east towards the Scottish islands.
